After years managing vertebrate pest animals across southern New South Wales, we kept seeing the same thing — ethically culled wild game with nowhere to go. That's where 5 Star Pet Food began.
How It Started
Our Journey Began in the Field
After many years working as professional vertebrate pest animal managers, we recognised an opportunity to turn an underutilised natural resource into something valuable. Rather than seeing ethically harvested wild game go to waste, we set out to produce premium-quality pet food that benefits pets, supports responsible land management, and reduces unnecessary waste.
Turning that vision into reality was no small undertaking. We spent more than 12 months completing specialist training, obtaining permits and accreditations, and meeting the strict requirements of both State and Federal government agencies. Every stage of our operation has been developed to ensure our products are safe, compliant and produced to the highest standards.
Unlike large-scale manufacturers, we don't harvest animals simply to fill freezers. We field harvest only what is required to fulfil customer orders and maintain a small supply of fresh product. This approach helps ensure quality while preventing unnecessary harvesting.
Our processing facility, located at Jindera in southern New South Wales, reflects our commitment to sustainability. We have repurposed a near end-of-life 48-foot refrigerated Pantech trailer into a purpose-built processing facility with separate chilling and processing areas. Even our power comes from renewable energy — our facility operates entirely from a solar power system, with refurbished solar panels charging an on-board battery bank that supplies all of our processing needs.
Our products contain only premium muscle meat and soft tissue. We never add preservatives, artificial colours, flavours, fillers, grains or ground bone. What you receive is simply natural, high-quality wild game your pets were designed to eat.
